Ok, I bought FC2 yesterday and I haven't been able to get it to run for more than 15 minutes no matter what I do. I've updated all of my drivers. I've even updated to Nvidia's beta driver 180.43. The game just freezes around the time that I get told to go outside and fix the car by the guy in the house you wake up in after the initial firefight in the city. Sometimes I make it outside, other times I don't, heck once I even made it to the car I had to fix. I've tried turning Aero off like some other people have said worked for them and it didn't help, I re-installed the game once and I decided to hold off on that so I don't use up my 5 installs too fast.

    Current PC:

    MOBO: Gigabyte GA-M57SLI-S4
CPU: AMD Phenom 9550 Quad Core @ 2.5 Ghz
GPU: 2x BFG GeForce FX 260 in SLI
    RAM: 4 GB Corsair XMS2 DDR2
    SOUND: Creative X-Fi Platinum
    PSU: Tagan Turbojet 900W
    HD: WD Raptor 150GB + WD Caviar 320GB + WD Caviar 500GB
CASE: Enermax Uber-Chakra Black & Silver

    Any help will be appreciated.

    Try disabling the visual themes.

Windows Vista has some visual settings that may conflict with the game. To resolve this issue:

    Method 1

    1. Right-click on the Far Cry 2 shortcut and select Properties.

    2. Click on the Compatibility tab and check "Disable visual themes."

    3. Click Apply and close.

    4. Try running the game again.

    Method 2

    1. Browse to the Windows Games folder (Start button -> Games).

    2. Right-click the Far Cry 2 shortcut and select 'Customize.'

    3. Highlight the line 'Play' and click edit.

    4. When in properties, click on the Compatibility tab and check "Disable visual themes."

    5. Click apply and close.

    6. Try running the game again.

Well, I switched to Windows XP compatibility mode and it's woking so far, but I hate to lose some of the eye candy (No DX10). But it runs fine on Ultra High quality (55-60 FPS). If anyone has any other ideas I'd love to hear them.

Hmm, some of my games do not run well with Vista. I have to run them in Compatibility Mode. I have not tried the NVidia beta driver 180.43; using 178.24.

I have Vista Ultimate SP1 and are running the game nearly perfectly... The only error I got is that after a time(Up to 2 hour) the game just drop to desktop without any reason!

I have the mega trainer running in the background! It is quite annoying that the game just stop, but it have to be something wrong on your computer... since I can play for 2 hour and you have to switch to xp comp mode!

The trainer also working nice.. Thx Caliber
