I figured something out.
If you are going to edit the file specified by the Opening Poster, be sure to do it in the save file folder with the highest number. When I did my Edit, I had Save_1 through 4. The highest numbered save is the most recent save.
The game doesn't overwrite save data, it simply creates a new folder/version of the save files. Looking at all the folders I have accumulated I get the feeling that this save system is a bit redundant, but then again I am no programmer.
