How much do the patches affect the gameplay of crysis? I can get the out of the box version to run and it seems stable: version 1.1.1.5767.
I downloaded the patch, 1.2, and the game will not run at all, just a black screen appears and the game halts.
Hoping that the 1.2.1 upgrade would make things better, I downloaded and ran it, on top of the 1.2 patch. It still will not run.
I went back, deleted everything and reloaded the original game, it worked. Then I downloaded and ran the 1.2 patch again, (new download, just in case the first was corrupted somehow), then without running the game, I downloaded and ran the 1.2.1 patch on top of it. I received success messages, but when I tried to run the game, I got an error message of: "Emulation conflict" which the crysis homepage says is a DVD copying utility or something running. The fix according them is to remove the DVD copying software from my hard drive. I think that they mean "Nero." I also have DVD authoring tools by Pinnacle (Dazzle video capture) for making DVDs to send home to mom and dad. Obviously, I'm not going to remove these to play a game. Anyone else have any guesses, ideas or possible solutions?

when i first downloaded patch 1.2 it was damaged but i couldnt tell(some errors during installation, no explanations) so i deleted it and continued suffering with the original version then i downloaded 1.2 again, and it worked. i was like wow. but i didnt have any black screens, and neither have i installed 1.1 or 1.2.1. hotfix. its probably your display driver not liking the game.
