Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots Message Board  

Ya' know, I'm tired of people thinking the cutscenes are too long, and complaining. My friend who also owns the game, skipped through all the cutscenes like you did. I think it's because you bought it expecting a game devoted completely to action, well this game is focused on plot and gameplay. I have loved each and every Metal Gear Solid game, and watch all the cutscenes, because I love good plottlines.
I personally think the game was awesome.

Yes true but people like games were you get to play more then watch. But the cut scenes bring you back to the first Metal Gear Solid and continue on. Most cut scenes are worth watching because they fill you in on alot of info just like briefing.

Then why even play a metal gear solid game? did you expect halo or gears of war? lol

Exactly, anyone who knows anything about the MGS series should know that the games are very strongly story driven. I'm sure almost any gamer that even did the very slightest of research before buying the game should of known of the cut scene length before getting this game, they were talked about for months before the game even came out. Personally I enjoy a game that has a strong storyline to help you get more emotionally evolved in the game, and MGS4 did that.

To first post: Eating five Bran muffins would make a BM very quick... high in fiber... check your analogies before you post sillypants. I liked the cutscenes though, yes they were long; I feel that it was more realistic. In everyday conversation one does not reply immediately to every single statement... It's all about personal preference in the end.

I know this post is really far past the last one, but I just needed to put my 2 cents in here.

I to, am a gamer who doesn't really like watching really long cut scenes, and prefer to get right to the action, but I found myself enjoying the cut scenes in this game because it informed me a lot about the story, and made me feel like I knew what was going on. I especially loved when you would see something in one cut scene that would make you go, "What the heck was that!?", and then they would either explain it right after that cut scene, or in the next cut scene.

It also appears that they knew that players could get a little bored during the cut scenes, so they added little things to them to make them interactive, just like they have been doing since the old MGS games. Definitely give them another shot, but just pay more attention to them, and really listen to what is going on in them. Its pretty worth your while when you do.
