i saw a trailer for this so i downloaded the trailer on my ps3 and it looks pretty cool but i think ill probably like the original Prince of Persia trilogy better

I must admit that I picked this game up because I have played every POP game (Starting with the original on the Apple II). I have mixed feelings about the game. Graphically the environments are very good. The storyline is good so far. I have to agree with Gamespot's review that they developed Elika's character more so than that of the Prince's.

I will admit my disappointment that this Prince is NOT the Prince from the earlier games. In the SOT Trilogy the Prince was indeed a Prince. In the manual of this game it states that this Prince is "born to an ordinary family, the Prince is a drifter. He is a man without title, a man without a calling. A Prince in nickname only...". Now perhaps this is incorrect and maybe I have not gotten far enough into the storyline, but I doubt it.

Now, putting the above aside, if you approach this game as if it is a new series and abandon all knowledge of previous games this game isn't so bad. Granted it is VERY easy. Since Elika saves you and takes you back to the last checkpoint (usually a few feet behind where you fell) there really is no penitily for being reckless (other than the fact that you won't get one of the trophies). Also fighting is the same. Elika saves you when you are losing. There is no health meter per se. You have a red border on the screen when "injured" along with a Prince who appears injured, but it really has no effect on gameplay. There are very few enemies in the game. Usually 1 minor opponent per level and the boss. Once a level is cleared the boss is gone, but the minor enemy will respawn on re-entry to the level. However, it doesn't matter as fighting is not all that exciting (fun to watch, but boring to do).

Now, the real meat of the game is the platforming. That's what this game is about, and if that is what you are looking for you will enjoy it. The power plates in the game bring an interesting variation to the usual platforming in games. Timing is a little weird in the game (i.e. - button combinations/sequences), but it doesn't take too long to master.

All in all it is a good game, but you have to try and approach it as a NEW game, not a follow-up to the previous games. If you can do that you will enjoy this game. The Prince character is nothing like the previous ones. In SOT he was a young prince who screwed up and turned into a brooding hero. The current prince is more of a wisecracking mercenary.

On a completely unrelated note: For some strange reason I get nauseated playing this game too long. Now I am an avid gamer and have never had any problems like this before. Perhaps I am just getting old…

Nuh this one is great i recomend it but i like it better on 360.

no it isnt i hate the graphic it was too cartoony and u couldnt fight with two guys just one ..and u couldnt drew ur weapon anywere that sucked but i finished it

I agree with the story of the Prince being taken to this new level where he is basically a douche bag, with serious heartbreaker complexes.
I was reading about the trophies and there is one that they don't mention "inventor". Apparently I made up a new combo and it said I got the Inventor trophy.
My only problem with this game is the fact that the lag between the Elika Combo attach move and a sword combo is too long. I'm sitting here yelling at the TV telling them to move their butts and kill things, which drives me nutts. I understand this is more of a "puzzle" type game, even though Elika's compass just tells you everything you have to do, but I wish they would just hack and slash everybody with smoother moves, and no I didn't get this game for that, but it would be nice.
The graphics are cool, even though sometimes the camera angles are a little bit messed up.
All and all it's a cool game, but it's more of a rental type than actually spending the $60 on it.

The reason that there is a diffrent prince is cuz they are trying to completly restart everything new prince new location new story. They changed the sands for elika. The graphics look cartoony because they wanted it to look like you are playing in a picture. But still you cant cut off heads or pick up wepons. I like warrior within the best.
