helllo I have a problem with the create_unit cheat.
I'm trying to create a unit called Qapukulu for The Turks,
create_unit Yerevan Qapukulu 5 9 3 3
The console says it couldn't find the unit or unknown unit name.
Does anyone know how to make it work? Does Qapukulu has another name?

The Unit IDs you want are:
Quapukulu Hashishim
Yes, I know the spellings are different. Just works out that way. In order to find out the unit IDs of many of the units, go into Custom Battle, and save an army with the units you want. Once done, look in the "armies" folder in your Total War directory, and open the saved files in notepad. The Unit IDs will be given.
To see the entire unit list, download this nifty .PDF by brandybarrel.
All the names listed are the Unit IDs...very convenient.
The problem I'm running into is finding character names. I know if a character earns a title, you still have to use their OLD given name (so when Mikhail de Hula gains the title Mikhail the Dreaded, you still need to type Mikhail de_Hula). However, I need to figure out how to type "Tutush ad-Dawlah"...ad_Dawlah, ad-Dawlah and other such combinations isn't working for me =(.

TCStrickland,
I noticed you mentioned having trouble creating Retinue Longbowmen.
Try "Yeoman Archers" or "Dismounted Longbowmen". One of those is the Retinue Longbowmen, I believe.
Hope that helps.

Hi guys...I only registered in this site in order to give you the solution for the create_unit. The solution is far more simple that you imagine, first of all the cheat that the sites provide does not work properly (e.g create_unit London Longbowmen 9 2 3 3). In order to get the units you have to write the string in the following way, for example if i want to recruit knights templar i should write the following ( create unit "London" "Knights Templar" 9 2 3 3 . DO NOT FORGET TO INCLUDE THE QUOTES AND CAPITALIZE THE CHARACTERS. If units do not recruit (rarely...) Do the following: Go to single player and make a custom battle when on the army tab include the units you want to recruit later on (create_unit...etc)then save the army with the name you like and exit. Then go to program files/sega/medieval 2 total war/ and open armies folder, the saved army will be there with .cax format. Open with notepad and the correct unit_ID will be there and use this id in the create_unit cheat (e.g culverin's id is not culverin it's SE Culverin)if you encounter problems with unit_id do the above and you will be ok.
