S.T.A.L.K.E.R.: Shadow of Chernobyl Message Board  

Hi. I have the 1.0004 version of STALKER. And are now finally trying to play through it.. Using the 1.0004 Trainer..

But, after some hours of gameplay, the game kind of LAG'S..
I can't run properly, because of a blinking "discette-ikon" in the bottom right corner.. The running halts every time the disc, lights up.. And, running like that almost makes me sea-sick.. When I run, I move fast,slow,fast,slow,fast etc.. Constantly.. Really annoying..
The "disc" flashes on-off every second when I walk also, but then I donæt notice it in my movement because I move slow..
AND, it also lag's whitout the disc-icon flashing..



I have put the resolution in average mode.. Compared to the computer I'm playing on.. I guess.
I have this hardware :
Asus P5B Deluxe Wifi mainboard + Intel Q 6600 CPU.
Asus 8800 GTS 512 PCI-E 2.0, Creative SB X-FI
More than enough disc-space also..

Anyone know what this type of LAG comes from ?
It worked all fine for the first 4 nights (12hours or so) Then it started..

Yes, and also. I use the original DVD in the computer while playing. That means no no-dvd-files..

I don't recommend doing anything illegal, but clearly you actually own the game, so I would suggest downloading a No-CD crack. To my knowledge it's legal to use it so long as you own the game.

Yes, I own the game..
So, the NO-DVD-patch could fix this problem ?
Could the Lagging be due to game continously checking things on the DVD ?
That is strange, normally games only utilize the DVD at startup...
But, hey I'll give it a try..

Nope.. That didn't help..

The problem you describe sounds alot like a memory leak, which could either be hardware related, or a video card conflict. Update to latest S.T.A.L.K.E.R. version 1.05,I think, then update your video card drivers. If that doesn't fix the problem, then I am not sure.

Well I have a similar problem, the same lag but my video card fan slows down and makes a lot of noise.Can someone tell me whats the problem?I have the 1.0005 version,I own the game but the disc icon Priest refers to doesn't happens with me.
