Elder Scrolls 4: Oblivion - Shivering Isles Message Board  

I am using the trainer with my Game of the Year edition of Oblivion and playing on my HP laptop (which runs Vista, I got it in December).

I have run into a few problems:

I have found that most of the time, but not always, NPCs and opponents, including deer sometimes are frozen to the spot when I use the trainer. They can run in place and use weapons, spells, etc. But they can't move. What can I do if anything?

I have also found that sometimes when I try to ride my horse the same thing happens, but it can often move if I'm not riding.

Another disturbing problem is that sometimes the "blue screen of death" starts flashing during game play, most recently while I was riding my horse and the horse was actually moving. I obviously freaked out and saved the game, but the problem went away shortly.

I am I the only one experiencing this? Is there a new trainer or anything I can use?

If you wanna cheat, I'd suggest you learn to use the console.

You can do many things in game. Learning the TES Editor is also useful, since you can easily create custom weapons and enchantments.

Thanks, I know about some of that stuff, in fact, that's how I get gold and lock picks...

I really just use the trainer to get around encumbrance, but that still doesn't really help me...unless, is there a console command to remove encumbrance?

There's no console command that I know of, but you could easily create an item with a huge feather enchantment or greatly increase the amount of carry per strength (default 5 per str point) in the "TES Construction Set"

If you haven't used it before, once the program is launched

- file -> data.. --> check off "oblivion.esm" -> ok
-all the data from the master should be loaded now
- gameplay -> settings.. --> "fActorStrengthEncumberanceMult"
-change the default 5.0000 to whatever you want and click ok
- file -> save
-save should default to the "data" directory in your oblivion install dir
-save it there with whatever name
-next time you launch the game, make sure the esp you created is "checked"
-start game

Okay, I don't thing I understood everything you said before, but I downloaded the TES Construction Set and followed your instructions to modify it and I think that will work. Thanks! I look forward to seeing what I can to with the rest of it. Is there any kind of instruction manual, the Readme wasn't very helpful?

I think the biggest problem is simply learning to use the toolset. There is little help in navigating the gui and people like me probably figured it out by stumbling around... I would suggest you try out other people's mods, and see what changes they made.

There is also few places that explain how the game puts things together. For instance each "cell" in the outdoor world has a pool of weathers that can be used. If you want to make things less foggy for instance, it's probably easier to modify the type of weather, rather than all the different types of cells.

If the last paragraph sounded like mumbo jumbo, I would suggest you just take a look at the add-ons at nexus and planetelderscrolls. Someone has probably made something for all the basic changes you might want done.
