Has anybody gotten the assassin blend option to work as described in the readme? I'm using the dx10 retail version on vista32. All the other options are working fine, but the blend doesn't seem to work right. The description says...

Your HUD indicator will show you as Un-noticed, and those whom you attack will not be able to see you or fight back.

...but i'm still getting noticed, and i'm still getting attacked...

First of all, none of the guard can see you when you activate it. Anyone that can see you when it's activated will continue to see you afterwards.
Secondly, it does not work on rooftop guards.
Thirdly, you can not do any missions with it active; you'll have to disable it beforehand.

Personally, I only used it a little until I got the throwing knives. After that it was simply easier to move around on the rooftops, killing any guard who came in range.

Works for me. I used it accidentally when I switched to internet with the game paused but in a fight. I accidentally hit the key while I was typing some numbers. I don't like the option if you ask me so I had to restart the game.

I tend to avoid using this option as it breaks missions and the game won't record you having killed the Templars hidden throughout the game if you kill them with this enabled.
