I have a gta 3.It was working well.Whenever i save a game and load it it says Unhandled exception:c0

I have a gta 3.It was working well.Whenever i save a game and load it it says Unhandled exception:c0000005
At address: 005454D4.
I downloaded a patch for v1.1.It says that it cannot upgrade my version due to unkown version.What do i do?PLEASE HELP ME.Otherwise i will have to finish the game in one single day.
