My game version is 2.301. I am running Vista ultimate SP1. I tried the mod loader. The mod was loaded but only the dev mode works. I can see the user created maps. But the mods changes are not present. There are no new units. I tried all sides both German factions and the Brits. There are no new units present.
I placed the mod folder and mod module in the directory where I installed the game.
Maps and mods are two completely different creatures, but why it seems you can't get Ewiger Krieg working for you is apparently something beyond my control. Please understand I do not accept any responsibility for cross compatibility of modifications because it is impossible for me to compensate for other people's work, or even for them to all know what I've done.
The two most important steps which are so often fumbled over are being sure to have the whole:
Ewiger_Krieg folder and Ewiger_Krieg.module in the C:\Program Files\THQ\Company of Heroes file, and then on the target box of your newly made RelicCOH.exe shortcut it is absolutely vital that you properly spell and space:
"C:\Program Files\THQ\Company of Heroes\RelicCOH.exe" -modname Ewiger_Krieg -dev
That's really all I can tell you to do, since it isn't a patch, a program, or any sort of editing to check up on. The mod is universally compatible so long as the game can run in -dev mode at all, which you clearly can do. The only conclusion I can come to is that somehow or other the mod isn't being started due to a placement issue, a typing error, or some 3rd party anomaly perhaps unique to your situation which I am unaware of.
Seeing you say "mod loader" makes me curious, if you mean Corsix's Mod Studio, then you're going about it the better way (from my perspective) because it requires proper placement and lets you know if it's not alright. If in doubt, copy/paste everything in the unpacked "Ewiger Krieg Mod" folder you downloaded straight into C:\Program Files\THQ\Company of Heroes. Once Ewiger_Krieg.module is loaded in Corxis's Mod Studio from the main COH folder, click the Play drop tab, check 'run in dev mode', then click the Play drop tab again and 'Play in CoH/OF'.
If that won't make it run, then there is literally nothing I can do on my end to make it work, something well beyond my control is preventing it from functioning that I simply have no knowledge of. As with prior Opposing Fronts mod contributions, Ewiger Krieg shouldn't be version dependent, and the only function troubles with ULTIMATE Special Tanks Mod and Ewiger Krieg are as a result of 2.300.

Some people there are still having troubles with their mods in 2.301, and while I haven't investigated their specific situations, I am confident that Ewiger Krieg and their mods do not share many crucial components that would cause such incompatibilities, especially in the light that both pre- and post- 2.301 so many others have used the mod completely unfettered (not counting the 2.300 bug which I had no control over anyway).
If you go there and investigate further with other people's woes you may find your specific situation and solution.
its probably me but i cant seem to get it working. im on ver 1.301 and windows xp. In your last post you said that there was a folder. WHAT FOLDER!!! 🤔 🤔
I'm going to start directly from the download straight from CH then the file you download should be: ewigercohmod.zip
When you unpack it, inside that unpacked ewigercohmod folder go into the "Ewiger Krieg Mod" folder, and there are three files (my more recent additions have a 4th file, which is just a text file listing units/buildings added, not vital in any way)
the files are as follows:
Ewiger Krieg.txt
Ewiger_Krieg (a folder containing important files)
Ewiger_Krieg.module
If in any doubt, select them all, copy/paste them into:
C:\Program Files\THQ\Company of Heroes
You mentioned 1.301, which as far as I know does not exist, so I'm presuming you meant 2.301, and I can confirm myself that Ewiger Krieg works fine with that version.
As for your continuing grief ufarax, I genuinely am out of answers, I highly doubt it is any issue to do with Vista (SP1 or otherwise) because all my mod does is edit values already present in the game, it doesn't alter the game's function in any way, merely works with values it already has to get results you want. I've had friends test it on their Vista rigs (SP1) and I use XP pro with nothing but positive marks, but if either windows had a real problem, it'd be with the game itself and just not work properly at all.
The mod's only problems would be compatibility with the game, and I've worked that out pretty carefully to make sure it won't cause stability problems since I haven't created anything the game can't already make happen, just changed some rules for "how" it happens.
I'm still leaning heavily toward some incompatibility between something else also trying to work in COH simultaneously, perhaps a scenario appended to a map download (I can't say for certain, just an idea) that for whatever reason doesn't play well with others. Again, I make no claims of cross-mod compatibility, but I know the custom maps I have work swimmingly with Ewiger Krieg (big/huge maps are almost a requirement to get the most fun out of a full on M26 Vs. Tiger free-for-all).
Anyway, if anything else is trying to adjust values in the game (not counting Cheat Happens trainers, those have no effect either way on the mod) that Ewiger Krieg is also trying to adjust, then something is going to give and the game will try to default to the game's preset values, and this none of the mod's features will work. Some of the discussions I have seen are continuing to claim there are problems with 2.301 similar to 2.300 and mods, and as far as I've seen it does not effect the vast majority, but even a few is too many.
While it would be a terrible headache and sad for you to have to, reverting to a previous version of the game (uninstall, reinstall, circumvent auto-update, and manually update to pre-2.3) may be necessary. I really want to find the solution for you, but since I have no more information now than before I can't come up with any better answers.
