Okay, so Winter Assault was great, hell I loved it, the campaing was sort of lame but the guard faction was fantastic and everyone liked the new units.
Then Dark Crusade came out, had a huge campaing with replayability, made for long term single-play, came with some great terrain and two new unique sides, in all that was nice too.
But imo, thats where it should have ended. Soulstorm is just too much. Dark Eldar and Adepta Sororitas ? Really ? Why no tyranids ? Why did they choose two crappy races ? Wheres the new terrain that mappers are crying for ? Where are the much needed engine upgrades ? Why is the campaing so lacklustre ? and perhaps the most important question of all : Why are we still using the years old DoW engine ?
Please, relic avoid another flop like this and do us all a favor by making DoW 2. New engine, new graphics, make it simple, the way things were in vanilla DoW, patch one. Before everything was wattered down and nerfed. I miss the days when SM tactical squads could really dish out some power.
This should be the last Dawn of War expansion. Its time to look towards a brighter future for the series instead of reviving the same old dieing game with yet another expansion adding a new race or two.

Now that's a WH40k nerd speaking No offense though I kinda agree too, it's just gotten a milking cow. Original DoW was truly great, while the expansion was nearly as good, DC was alright and SS isn't all that great. Just too many old news in this one. (Heck, couldn't they even make a better campaign map? It's just fugly.)

Well, this was not developed in house, it was developed by another company. I think of it kinda like the non-Blizzard expansion packs for Starcraft and Diablo.
Dawn of War 2 is currently in development, and has been for a while.
The developers have gone on the record saying that Tyranids would not be implemented using this engine, since the 'nids wouldn't operate like the other armies do (capturing points and all that).

Sisters of Battle was a great choice. They own. My only gripe is the intro was poorly done.

I actually quite like it so far. Much better than the Company of Heroes Expansion which was/is both buggy and annoying with it's insistance on online. Maybe I have low expectations but if I buy an expansion I hope for more of the same. And as far as MassiveAttack's point about Tyranids I seem to remember when DoW first came out they said they could not or would not do Tyranids on this engine. I can't remember which though

This is the last DOW expansion, do you read any gaming sites or just complain and hope you're right??
It's just something to keep us occupied till dow2. Maybe a platform for testing ideas that they will want to include in dow2.

All I know is that if you don't like it, then don't play it. Being on an older engine doesn't change the engaging gmeplay. I still play titles that were created in the 80's. Gaming is gaming. And, as others have stated, this expansion was Iron Lore's last project before their doors closed (R.I.P.), Relic is working on the next iteration of their Warhammer RTS which will likely be built on the Company of Heroes engine. It's a shame that such a good independent developer has gone the way of the dodo rather than sell out to giant publishing houses like EA and Activision. I really enjoyed Titan Quest and its expansion, and I am currently enjoying Soulstorm. Too bad we'll never know what they would have done next.

Umm, the CoH engine is the DoW engine, just improved. (The Essence engine to be precise.)
And I do play it, since there is no other good games out there right now. (Played the goldies through at least 10 times by now ^^ there are many of those though... can't get enough of Stunts, Settlers II, Tankwars.... ahh *nostalgic sigh*)
Nevermind, sad that Iron Lore had to go nevertheless, even if what they did to DC wasn't all that much. Hope THQ and Relic will continue to live on for a long, long time, as those guys are really darn good
Hoping to see DoW2 relatively soon. (Also hope to see HW3, but now that's dreaming ^^)
