hi uh, im kinda new to playing with mods and, me and my friend dled the same mods (monster mod thingy) and we tried playing online. He hosted, i tried to join, but i got an error saying that his game was modified and that i didnt have the same content. We both only had the monster mod installed, so anyways, i was just wondering, is it possible to play mods online with other people?

Yes you can. I play the game with my father on LAN (got no one else to play with for reasons i am not allowed to mention) and I have the monster mod. I could play the game while being a half-giant and having my dad be a Morden whats-its-name. But because the DS2 engine does not have a system for downloading server mods... I would suggest only playing online on servers that you are certain of which mods it contains. In other words... you would need to be able to copy your ds2 folder over another ds2 folder and have it ask to write over everything.

In your issue... your friend/you may have not removed all of the mods. I came accross this once and you should try maybe open (not open the shortcut... explore) the ds2 cd/dvd (once again... i cant tell you why i am saying this the way i am. its against the rules) and open... hang on... scrap that... instead goto your ds2 resorces folder... and make sure you have only the mod/s your friend has... and also voices.ds2res, Logic, movies 1 + 2, objects, sound 1 + 2, and terrain. I know its so simple... yet it may have been overlooked. If... after that... you cant join... then you 2 must be either using 2 different monster mods... or your friend has lied to you and hasn't got the mod or has got more than just the monster mod.

Admins... I may have droped a few hints of the fact that but I didn't blatently say that. im not trying to say it thou.

Yes you can play with them online i host games that are modded all the time when im not busy, also i think i know why it is saying that it's because you have the same mod as him, take the mod out and try,again you dont need the same mods for it to work, as long as the person hosting,it has them then it will for every one.
