So I've got the game running and it's v 1.03
I'm also running on vista...
I've also gone into the .ini and added EnableCheats=1 but I can't get the console to come down using the ~ key. Anyone who could help I'd be very thankful
Because Vista has such great (too much for my liking) safety protections, you have to go into the game as administrator, to run cheats even if you have successfully edit the .ini files. Plus, you have to give your Windows firewall permission to let the game play in its altered state, because Vista's safety protocols now see the altered game as a potential virus. I did those things and ran the game just fine. If you have added protections on you computer that you put onto your system post purchase, you might have to give them administrative permissions to let the altered game run as well. I do appreciate the added safety of these new software packages, but I do not think they are supposed to protect the computer from the owner too .
I am updating my own post here to add additional info: The command console on this game is activated simply by pushing the "~" key and nothing else. Also, there is no "obvious" drop-down console on this game. After enabling cheats, start the game and hit the tilde key (only), look in upper right hand corner of game screen and you will see a ">" blinking there in yellow. Just type in your cheats and hit enter. After hitting enter, hit the tilde key again or your character will be "stuck" until the cheat prompt times out (not good in combat situation). Also know, that Lucas Arts permanently disabled all cheats in the opening scenes aboard the Endore Spire. Call it artistic license. You cannot really use cheats until you clear the Endore spire part of the game and get down to Taris. Then you can do like I did and give yourself $999,999,999,999,999,999,999.00 credits to spend if you like.
