Sins of a Solar Empire Message Board  

Someone mentioned a hint on how in another thread but they didn't put the correct details so I figured why not post it in it's own topic.

Make sure to exit the game before making changes.

Using Notepad (or your favorite text editor) edit the file (replace "YOUR USER" with your user name):
C:\Documents and Settings\ YOUR USER \Local Settings\Application Data\Ironclad Games\Sins of a Solar Empire\Setting\user.setting

Near the bottom of the file locate the setting "SavedGameFileFormat" and change it from "1" to "0" then save the file.

Now your save games will save in text format and be editable in any text editor. Locate your save game files by going to the folder: C:\Documents and Settings\ YOUR USER \Local Settings\Application Data\Ironclad Games\Sins of a Solar Empire\Save-SinglePlayer

As for the contents of this file, I'll leave that up to your own experimentation. Remember to back up your saved game file before making changes. Changes CAN crash your game or cause it to not load the save file.
