chingy, how can you forget NFS hot pursuit 1 & 2? they had cops, m5's n stuff.
i'm giving it a 4. there's some elements missing from previous titles that i miss more than cops, but overall it's a blast, even if it is kinda easy. it's arcade style gran turismo at it's finest.
Okay, fine. 2/6 games had cops, but the rest? Nope. Porsche 2000 had some brief cops here and there, but not really enough to classify the game as a cop-game.
Because theres no police and the races are legal, Need for Speed series was all about Underground racings, isnt it??
Wrong. The NFS franchise has been long existent since before the Underground games, and if I recall correctly, NFSU was the 7th game in the entire series. Beforehand there were no cops, and people liked the game series just fine. So no, it's not about cops.
My rating: 4 stars.
It's a very good attempt at emulating, true-to-life, the increasingly popular legal tuner race scenes. The gameplay is a significant notch above previous games, and the graphics compliment the gameplay superbly. I would even go as far as to say that the graphics are on par with the likes of Gran Turismo. EA claim this has been in development for over 2 years, and it shows massively.
However, it is let down by its most thorough component - the physics engine. At times the acceleration is pin-point superb, but at other times it is unrealistic, and downright surreal. This inconsistency can be a little frustrating at times, and this is why it does not deserve the full five stars. It's far from perfect, but it's not a waste of time or money either.
WRONG!!! I have NFS from 98 it's named Road Challenge and YES it has cops on it...
