You can edit the text in the galaxy directory. These files are the maps for the game. First I changed the CivilianModules and the TacticalModules to 8 each. Then near the bottom of page I changed player 0's startingcredits, startingmetal, and startingcrystal to 9999999. Make sure you back up your files in case you want the game back to its original state. This game can be changed many ways.

Yea you can create maps using the Ingame randome generator then use their map tool to GUI edit it or make a whole map via notepad. It is a highly modable game.
By 8 do you mean you let each planet type have 8 slots for each.

they plan to release the mod tools..one of these days. Back in the beta you could simply modify the *.entity files under /GameInfo, but they converted them to binarys instead of text files.
Good find

You can still edit the galaxy files and if you change in the user.settings file saveGameFormat to 1 it saves as an editable text file BUT a samll star system caan be 3+meg so that way takes a LONG time to load and the files can be huge.
