ok so after i got the statue's bow, i went ahead through the underwater tunnel and got the artifact

ok so after i got the statue's bow, i went ahead through the underwater tunnel and got the artifact but i ran outta air and died.after coming back to life, my bow is missing from my inventory and i can't find it in the water. WHAT HAPPENED?
