Even though it was '08 since the last reply, there's no reason someone couldn't give an overview of what Gish is about (well the only reason being the need to be a but I digress) -
You play as a ball of tar (Gish) on a quest to rescue your "lady friend".
Game play is governed by basic physics (you can bounce, stick and slide, become heavy and make use of momentum, etc.) with the majority of the levels relying more on basic, yet challenging, puzzles regarding the physics of the game. There are enemies sprinkled throughout levels, most of which can be dealt with either by becoming heavy and smashing them or by avoiding (most are slow and unless you're moving as slow as they are they tend not to follow you) or luring them into level hazards.
There are also boss fights at intermittent points in the game's chapters. Most play out just as a normal level, i.e. having you accomplish some task you're already used to accomplishing in a normal level (smashing enemies, navigating and manipulating the terrain to lure a boss into a trap, etc).
I will say - this game is not for those who get impatient quickly. The jumping mechanic (bouncing to gain momentum, in effect reaching higher points) is the most difficult thing to do and equates to the bulk of the game's learning curve and if you find yourself frustrated early on by it, you'll find that it's only going to **** you off even further as you progress through more levels that require more complex jumps.
