dude i'm really sorry to tell u. buy another video card. I've got the same one but i'm playing the game on an amd 1.9+ an with 1gb of ram it works but lags. and it doesn't work with 1frame per second . youre mistaken. just buy something like an nvidia 7300 probably a 256 video card. don't use ati cards cause they s k at nfs. they're even slower on powerfull systems. tested. best specs to play this game worriless and without flaws are: 2gb ram, a nvidia 8800GT with 512 vram and a dual core processor intel d 3400 as my cousin has/

I wouldn't do as chingy said and go for SLI. The advantage is basically not more than about 5% until you go into really high resolutions of like 1650x1080 with all details or more like 1900x1200.

Centrino is also the Mobile Platform.

I'd go for a cheap Core 2 Quad Q6600, 4 Gig Ram, a 8800GT (ZoTac Amp or sth. like that) and 2x 500 GB HDD's. That should be enough for most games within the next 2 years.

SLI is pretty much useless crap. Buying 2 Cards each 250$ makes 500$, and getting ONE single 500$ card (like an 8800 Ultra) will do you better. Seen Energy-save-wise as performance wise too.

Actually, Centrino only really means that the motherboard comes pre-loaded with an Intel WiFi card, and yes it's only used for Laptops.

For instance, my laptop with "Centrino" has a Pentium M "Dothan" core @ 2gHz, a hair faster than my AthlonXP "Barton" core 3800 for most things, a bit faster for others.

But yeah, I have to agree, SLi isn't the best upgrade. As was said, even a budget card like GeForce 7300 GT, that's the way to go on the cheap. You can get an 8x AGP (which you have AGP i assume) 7300 GT with 512 MB 128-bit DDR2... for like $70-$80 usd, brand new. Or cheaper, used.

My wanted list (that you should get as well) - Note: This is for building computers (actually putting them together), not buying them from vendors.
- Windows XP SP3 (if you want to wait for spring 2008, slightly higher performance for DX9 compatible games - around 5-10 FPS more)
- Intel Core 2 Quad Q6600 (faster than the most powerful Phenom out there, as shown by tests)
- Any motherboard (yes, I know it's an important part, but I don't yet have a budget recommendation, Asus/MSI P35/P5 or the newest Intel chipset boards - for the 'no-limit' builders: GET A BOARD WITH PCIe)
- Graphics - Ati Radeon HD3850 (soon to be available to AGP 8x) or 3870 or nVidia 8800GT (if you want high-end cards, wait a bit for them to move onto DX (aka Direct 3D) 10.1, the most priciest cards besides Ati FireGL and nVidia Quadro - these are for CAD applications)
- 7200RPM or faster drive, 160GB space or more (as much as you need for whatever you are going to be doing)
- Get 2GB of PC25300 (I think) 667 MHz DDR2 memory or faster (CPUs cannot currently use all of the DDR3 speed). You do not need any fancy brands like Muskin unless you want to over clock, Kingston or Corsair should do fine, 4-4-4-12.
- Any PSU 550 Watts and higher - make sure you have the right connectors
- 16x DVD Drive

Hmmm, always thought SLI and Crossfire really helped performance. Alienware is falling back on technology, I wouldn't recommend any company besides Dell, but that's because we only bought one, and built the other three (I made my own, dad made two).

Mushkin is always cheaper than Kingston or Corsair for comparative performance. Maybe you're not shopping at the right place.

Also is a good idea to get 800mHz DualChannel DDR2, instead of the 667. Especially the Phenom makes use of the faster ram, as Phenom's memory throughput ANNIHILATES Conroe, but it will benefit both.

About the video card...

I just remembered that my dad took it from his work a few years ago. It was already sorta used and it had some dust. It can take some HD stuff on it, like it will hold the 1920x1200 resolution, and it will show BluRay movies (only if i had teh player), but i dont really care about that cuz i dont know who will win: BluRay or HD-DVD. Most likely BluRay will, but as i said, i dont care. I cleaned my card a few times and it sorta helped, but not much in the game. I will look into the stuff u said. thnx guys
