What style does everyone play on Call of Duty 4? I try run and gun but I seem to die more than I have kills. I try varying the weapons and perks to no avail. I don't like to camp and that might be why I keep on dying. Seems like the programmers had camping in mind when they have more than one way to enter a "camping" perch to ambush the campers. I have entered those in the past to take out the other player. Should I hide with a silencer and UAV jammer and wait for the others to walk by and shoot them in the back? The only thing that keeps me coming back is earning more perks, gaining rank and trying to complete the challenges.

Be Rambo smart! And if want to camp shut down your computer and put up a tent in your backyard it is just as fun!

Whatever you do, don't camp, it is annoying.
Also, if you wanna be better in Multiplayer, use strategy along with force... for example, i was being a sniper on Bloc (the map) and i heard someone coming (i had my ghillie suit on, or however you spell it, the sniper camo) so i went prone in the long grass, he ran straight past me so i ran after him and knifed him.
Be strategic, run and gun seems to fail a lot, i did try that when i first played multiplayer, i got owned bad.

Its not the perks and weapons thats letting you down, its how you use them. Camping in maps doesn't help either since seasoned players know the maps on the back of their heads and will check the best camping spots to see if anyone is there.

Play with a defensive mentality don't camp and don't rush in either. Learning to aim well helps, burst fire and aim down sight for ranged conflicts and fire from the hip for close range combat, if they get even closer you will need to get into the habbit of using your knife so go now and bind that to your mouse if you have additional free keys. Binding flashbang, air support and that noob-tube (grenade launcher) weapon to your mouse also helps. Headshots make you look cool but not when you miss them and they kill you in the process, therefore make every bullet count and hit the biggest part of their body.

Next you'll need to get listen for footsteps and if radar is avaiable you should have your eyes glued at that like a hawk, so check if its friend or foe and be prepared. Grenades is another factor in giving unaware people a big big death record so if you hear that clink clink, throw it back if you have time, throw it to the sky if you have less time and if you have no time, cross your fingers and run for the hills.

As for the weapons, take time to get used to them and how they work so you know which is best to use on which maps. Plant C4 on the top of arch of the door and claymores further back from stairways, placing them directly on top of the stairs is a waste of a claymore and any player can survive by going to prone.

Lastly keep at it, the more you play the better and faster you will become. Also know when its time to take a step up to play in better servers. Playing new players day in day out is good for the ego and not your skills.

I hate snipers.I cant find a good sniping position in most maps.
And on the server where I am playing they dont know about TEAMWORK.
They go alone and they dont look.I on the other hand, always find a good hiding position.I just ambush them and stab them in the back with my knife. They allways start argueing with me when I silently kill them.My favorite weapons are:
    M60E4 and M16A4.

If you're sniper that doesn't mean that you need to be on the roof or something.
Lie in grass, hide somewhere but it must be(your position) a little far from the battle point or they're gonna spot and kill you....
