Hi guys,
I can't past the VTOL mission if my life depended on it. The vehicle maneuvers like a flying bus and I keep getting owned by much faster and more maneuverable aliens. Unfortunately the mega-trainer (which is great) doesn't have a vehicle GOD mode. I don't imagine it would be too difficult to make one Pls. consider adding one to the next trainer update. It might be the only way I get to finish this fantastic (except for this mission) game. ARRRRGH!!!!!! I hate this level.

Unfortunately this is not as easy as it sounds. While player invincibility is controlled by one type of damage counter, vehicle damage is calculated and controlled by multiple damage counters. The wheels, the engine, every part of the vehicle has a separate damage counter which can eventually 'kill' the vehicle. In order to achieve unlimited vehicle health, all of these counters must be tracked down and frozen, all while not crashing the game. Even different vehicles can have different damage counters.
With the large number of games released this month, we just didn't have the time necessary to make this option and have it be reliable for all vehicles. Once things have calmed down a bit then we may go back and try to add this option.
We apologize for any inconvenience this is causing and hope that you can benefit from the other 11 options that we have created for the game.

I can pass that level, after trying 5 times though, maybe more. The level that I can't pass is just after that level, fighting huge alien battleship. What weapon must I use since the girl always says to use some specific weapon that I don't know. Is there any weapon that can lock on enemies?

Thanks PWizard for the explanation, I honestly have no idea what's involved with making a trainer but hats off to your team for doing a great job.
I got past the level in question by ignoring all secondary objectives and made it to the next level alive.
As for the guy who is stuck in the last mission I think you need to find a special weapon called a TAC to defeat the end boss. I've just started this level now myself.

You have to learn to control the VTOL, it's as simple as that. Some tips though: Save the missiles for when you're fighting 3+ aliens at a time. They lock on, so they're accurate, but you've got a pretty limited number of them. (assuming you're not using the trainer and/or it dosen't work with vehicles) Another helpful hint: The VTOL regenerates. Very slowly, mind you, but it does. Just sit and let it recover after a battle before you go to the next one.
And yes, to defeat the alien warship, you have to use the TAC launcher and lock on to the two "arms" after the shields are lowered, then then core after blowing a hole in the bottom of it. Sadly, those are the only times you get to use the TAC launcher in SP.

Yo guys on the VTOL part just keep flying to the end of map don't stop for nothing. Get to the end and the mission will end level done. When I stop to help I just get shot down not to good at flying. So if you just keep moving and don't help the other guys it dosen't matter.

pjlambo,
the mega trainer do help during the VTOL mission.
Enable cloak (del) and confuse (+). Aliens won't attack u, pick them off one by one.
But u do need to avoid flying into tornadoes.

Wow, that's a great tip......I got through this mission by heading straight to the ship and not bothering with the secondary missions but I might give this a try next time through. Really completing the secondary missions doesn't do anything in this game other than let you know the exact location of weapon caches in some occassions but you can find them easy enough on your own if you explore around a bit. A funny thing about turning off the enemy AI is I played one mission where allies and enemies were basically bumping into each other but no shots were being fired till I turned it off.....lol.
Still with the AI it is at times flaky in this game. I was shooting at a guy in a doorway and he takes cover on the wrong side of the door then he starts to shoot at lockers inside the room instead of me. I wasn't cloaked or anything either. It is also still annoying that programmers haven't addressed AI that allows someone standing right beside them to get shot without reacting. This happens in far too many games and I was hoping it would have been fixed in CRYSIS. That being said the overall experience delivers one of the most impressive shooters on any platform.
