i tested the trainer again after some feedback to see if i could reproduce the problems some people are having:

my system:

Centrino Duo Notebook, XP 32 bit, 2GB RAM, storebought copy of game normal edition, Video 7900GTX Mobile

Tried the following:

1) New character from scratch level up immediately. Add skills points. Skills work.

2) New character level up, add skills, then level up again later, add more skills points. still works.

3) New character level up, add skill points. Save. Load, add skill points (without level up again). still works.

4) new charaver level up, add skill points. Save. Level up again, add skill points, still works.

5) Reload older character with at least some skill points remaining. Add skill points immediately, still works.

I cannot reproduce the errors people are telling us.

I DID notice the following, though-

Let's say you had 4 skill points. When you add skills using the trainer (press Numpad 5), then press K to access the skills tree, you may notice that your skills are still showing the previous amount (4), but actually you have 9. Click on one of the icons and drag it a little and it should update to 9. Also, adding to a skill icon (press little + sign next to it) will update the skills points amount.

that's my experience with it. i wish i could help further but i cannot seem to reproduce people's problems.

I should make note that this is for the non patched version

I have a problem with trying to add skill points when i have reached the first underground station, safe zone, its usually soon after i get quests, then i go out to complete them and i am unable to use 5 to add any skill points.

from then on it doesnt work, not even draging an icon around.

so for me i have to use 7 to get my exp up so i can be level 50 , then hold down 5 to get enough skill points before first safe zone as explained above.

I hope the detail information will help.

Will try to see if i can load a character after first safe zone and add skill points.

I have a prepatch character at lvl15, when I patched and then use the new trainer to add some skill points, it doesn't happen. I have tried it over and over again, level up, add skill points, no use.

And the strange thing is, say I have 4 skill points left, and then I press 5. Nothing happens, but if I now click the + sign of a skill to level that skill up, all of the remaining 4 point will be gone in one click. And the game won't save. Reload and everything is in the way before I pressed 5.

I reckon there is another post saying that there seems to be a cutoff point that you can't add any skill point past that point. I think I have just hit the wall...have to start a new char for those sweet skill points.

BTW another question...is the loot and monsters in the game leveled or just fixed for every act?

What I did to test the skills option was:
New Char, level up (using +100k exp), add skills, used skills cheat, window showed something like 60 unused skill points, continued playing the game until level 12-14 and then I noticed the game would not allow me to use those skill points: The skills screen said I had 50 unused points but after a single level I could only use one point. So I tried to use the skills cheat again but nothing at all happens. Each time I level I try the skill cheat but I only get to use one skill before the add skill option disappears.

Let me know if that is clear...I can reword/rephrase anything that may b unclear.

This one is a bi*ch....seems like it is hard coded left over from multiplayer or something. Once again thanks for you time and persistence!

@nicholaelaw - Leveled (according to the area) from what I can tell. Each area has a 'level' and drop is calculated according to the area level.

Ok, so they're not leveled to the character then. I wish there is a construction set or something like that in the singleplayer mode. 'cuz I kind of miss the console commands in Oblivion. Damn online games....

I'm wondering if having started my character pre patch 0 has anything to do with it? Not sure if it would but just conjecture. I tried all the small suggestions you posted above to get a response with the skills number but it just doesn't work for me. Other options still work fine.

My experience is the same. I cannot add skills, when I have 1 skill, before or after I level. Or any other time. I didn't attempt to use the trainer until level 9 and when I was in the third station area. Every other part works fine, but skills won't add.
