all I do in windows vista when modifying the .cfg files is;

open the .cfg to be edited, edit it, then save to desktop with its original filename.

Then drag, drop and allow (when prompted) to move & replace from the desktop back into original folder in c:\program files\electronic arts blabla.

Easy as pie. I like pie.

I have to wait till tommorow but I found on tweakguides.com there is a link to 1600 console commands just to let you know if you add r_consolerestricted=0 to system.cfg it will allow any cheat or console command. Also +DEVMODE to command line does the trick and allows modifications. And another note there is a file that you can edit in the gamedata.pak

Its under \Libs\EquipmentPacks inside the gamedata.pak rename it to rar and edit the file called player_island_full.xml

and you can add anything you want from a sniper rifle rpg launcher tons of ammo frag smoke and flash grenades sniperscope and assault scope. There is tons of files to edit if anyone wants I made grenades like mini nukes. I have a filefront page that i can uplaod my gamedata.pak file to and my system.cfg file pm me if your interested.
