well, im only 14, have no money, and wish i had an 8800 version of my card.

On another note - when I was 14 my computer made a nice doorstop so I don't think you're doing too badly Now I'm 18 and got a fairly nice PC. (4600, 8800gts and 2GB ram) Things can only get better

Vista and DX10 support legacy (Read: DX9) cards, just some bits are disabled or handled slowly by software. Of course, the kid SAID he was running in DX9 mode so that's somewhat moot anyway.

Do you have a bioshock shortcut on your desktop or something? If you don't, look for your bioshock executable, right click on it, mouseover "Send to", and click "Desktop (Create Shortcut)". The shortcut should be on your desktop now. After that, right click on the shortcut, click properties. There you will find the option to run the game in XP compatability mode. =) Good luck.

Updating your video card drivers is probably a good option too.

I have the following windowsXP,SP2,intel dualcore,4GB ADATA 667 ram,X-fi soundcard and a 7600GT pro clocked grahics card and i have no problems running this game
The game was designed to run on both DX9 and DX10 but the primary was DX9,DX10 effects are there only for those who have DX10 cards so dont worry it will run on both

Im also using Vista and same Graphics Card (Geforce7950GX2) as you do. But the game runs smoothed to me.

Maybe you should update your graphics card Driver on ver. 163.44 first then run the game by clicking at Start > Games > Right Click Bioshock > Play - DirectX9

If that doesnt work. I no clue why.
