Go through all the options of the trainer troubleshooting guide. Specifically make sure you run the game, then alt+tab out and run the trainer. We've already had other people confirm that it works fine with the D2D version.

The mysterious patch seems to be nothing but a DirectX update. And the mega trainer works fine with my patched Steam version of game

Glurk. I guess it's just me, then. I've tried alt-tabbing and putting the trainer in my Bioshock folder under Steamapps, and it doesn't work. On the bright side, I can at least do the cheat codes and hints God Mode thing you guys listed.

Regarding the "patch / DX10 update" and the trainer in Vista: works fine on my system with the retail version. If folks are having problems, its probably not that "patch".
One thing that did screw up the trainer was my Avast On-access scanner (antivirus stuff).
If I didn't disable the Avast, the trainer would only say "Bioshock.exe loading", never that it was ready. This scanner never seemed to affect the Lost Planet trainer, however.
