Just wanted to post a correction to a couple of these.

First, news is not an acronym. Acronyms are a purely 20th century concept, even the word "acronym" wasn't coined until c1940-50. Abbreviations have been around longer, but weren't heavily used. The word "news" comes from Middle English :

Second, the statistic about 40,000 toilet injuries every year in the U.S. is pure fiction. I'm not saying it's wrong, per se, rather there is no statistic for toilet injuries. A simple Google search will demonstrate that this figure is reported on anecdotal trivia sites, and no where else. There have been a small number of over-reported instances of injuries sustained by toilets, but that's it. Oh, and the answer that you're probably looking for on the yo-yo question is that it was originally a weapon. This also is a myth, deriving from one of the James Bond films. The yo-yo was originally developed in the Philippines as a toy.
