can i just use this patch right awway or do i have to use all the other patches. (mine is unpatched)

You will have to have all the patches. Thats wat i did when i first got it.

yep, you'll need to install all the patches (I hope you have a good internet connection).

I'm not sure of that at all, but from what I've understood, the 1.70 patch brings DX10 support, so it's only interesting for the Vista (and DX10) users.

the 1.71 patch seems to be a hotfix for 1.70.

I'm getting off-topic and I didn't test the differences myself,
but I've read somewhere that though the DX10 version added some details in shadows and textures, it also brought some perf drops.

the conclusion was that the DX10 version was quite nice, but not a revolution.

I'm not sure it will appease your sorrow...

Actually, the dx10 onlly works with vista AND a dx10 supported card. I have vista and a 7900 nvidia and do not get dx10 graphics. you have to get an nvidia 8 series graphics card

FYI- I am running vista64, 8800GTX - DX10 works. It's not mind-blowing, but it's essential for 64 bit gaming, which I am looking forward to.

actualy you dont have ot download all patches look on this www.companyofheroesgame.com/updates/ and download the v1.00 to v1.40 then the v1.40 to v1.70
and then the v1.70 to v1.71 easy right?
