Elder Scrolls 4: Oblivion - Knights of the Nine Message Board  

I'm having a serious problem with this quest to get the mace for the nine divines quest... everyone keeps telling me to equip the boots of the crusader but every time i do it tells me i need to repent for forgiveness or something... EVERYTIME. and i've gone to the shrines like 3 times now.
can anyone help me?

Do you have all of the patches installed?
Check your infamy rating as well...otherwise I'm sorry but I think you might be stuck...

What should my infamy rating be? Right now it's at 11

Then that's your problem!!!
Your infamy needs to be one or at zero if you want to wear the items... In theory you need to be pure before you can wear or use the items...
You need to get forgiveness and reduce your infamy back to zero or you'll never be able to wear them...

Basically, increase your fame to higher than your infamy, do it by completing quests and closing oblivion gates.

ATTN: The Dark Brotherhood quests, if you do it smoth (not getting caught), they WON'T descend your infamy.
