Okay here is my problem. Early on in the game (say lvl 4) I cheated in something called a mages staff of fire. by doing so a message popped up say you have completed your mages staff. well I thought nothing of it at the time, but now 60hrs into the game, i have finally gotten all of my recomendations and when i go to arcane university all the dude there keeps saying is you should be out getting your mages staff. I tried going to the location you are supposed to go but that didnt help. tried cheating out the staff that didnt work either, so i am wondering can i just remove this as completed and do the mission?

Help me Obi-Wan you're my only hope.
Come gather 'round people where ever you roam,
Admit that the waters around you have grown,
And accept that soon you'll be drenched to the bone,
    There are battles outside ragin,
Well you had better start swimming or you'll sink lke a stone,
For the times, they are a changin

No you can't sorry, if you have no saves before this cheat, your only hope really is to make a new character and start again, and if the same happens with that character it looks like you will have to uninstall and then re install the game, i know you will lose a lot of time and effort in the game but if you want to complete the mages guild questline it looks like that is th only way around it, but hey when you start again at least you will know what to do.

Well it sucks, but i did go back to lvl 4. and you are right at least i know what to do this time (or what not to do might be more appropriate). I do appreciate all the help on here and look forward to posting on here in the future.

P.S. this game is okay, but even all of you must admit KOTOR is the best rpg ever.

At a stop light green means go and yellow means use caution.
But on a banana it is just the opposite. Green means hold on, yellow means go ahead, and red means where the f**k did you get that banana?!

    Both.
KOTOR is a good game, but it can't measure with Oblivion.

Okay I will admit that Oblivion has a little more content. Also the graphics are good and the scenery is outstanding.
But the storyline is weak. The plot is something that any 14 year old who has played D&D could come up with.
KOTOR had great graphics for its time. The battles were much more visibly pleasing, and it has the best storyline in the history of RPG. Remember that first time playing KOTOR? When Malak told you that you were Revan, Didn't you feel stunned? When did Oblivions plot ever do that to you?

Also, how can I put a pic next to my name?
