What exactly are you trying to mod? If you want to mod your armies, you need to modify the campain folder, if you want to mod indivudual units, then you need to modify unit export files, etc. Try to be more specific, and I'll try to help.

I want to put a new faction in my game.

I know how to modify and edit files, but that would take too long for me to explain. You can check out the forums at totalwar.com and there are detailed explanations on how to add new factions, as well as other editing procedures. Good luck!
