Ok, well, I've downloaded the 1.003 patch, for Worldwide (I have a UK off-the-shelf version). Since i already had 1.001, i used the upgrade patch.
So, it's all installed, and I fire up Stalker, it says 1.003 in the bottom corner.
Try to voin a server, and EVER SERVER, says that the server is using a different version, even though it said 1.003 in the server info.
Also, how the hell are there apparently servers with v1.009??!! 0o

the reason why you are getting that error is becuase you have a mod in the stalker folder, remove the mod (usually named "gamedata" and try to connect to a server again it should let you in..i also found that out the hard way.
