S.T.A.L.K.E.R.: Shadow of Chernobyl Message Board  

Folks, I am not as smart as the rest of you when it comes to this stuff. I have done the following:

1 - Installed the Game on my computer.

2 - Installed the Patch 1.0001

3 - Installed the Mega Trainer 1.0001 to the STALKER Folder.

4 - Set the game to run in XP SP2 Compatibility Mode.

5 - Running the game as Administrator.

And Yes, I have read the SKR ReadMe File. Still, nothing works!!! Please tell an 'OLD' guy what he's doing wrong.

Please let me know if you need more info. I'm running this on a Dell XPS 410, Core 2 Duo E6600, Nvidia 7900 Graphics Card, and all of the other bells and whistles.

Have you tried the no dvd cheat, the trainer on its own will not help you run the game it will only help you have infinite health & so on.

not sure what you mean by "no dvd cheat". I have the DVD. Is that what you are referring to?

Is the dvd an original, then it should work ok.
But if it is a copy then you will need the no dvd cheat. Some ppl just use the no dvd anyway to save them having the disk in the dvd drive.

I have the original DVD that I purchased from WalMart. Now, this is getting interesting...are you saying that I need to have the DVD in the DVD Drive for the Trainer to work?????

No, you need the dvd in the drive to make the game work.
Have you tried the game with the dvd in the drive without the trainer turned on.
Lets see if we can nut this out.

The game has always worked just fine without the DVD in the Drive.

My problem is, I don't know how to turn the trainer on (I believe that's the real problem I'm having).

How do I turn the trainer on? Load a NEW game and then press one of the Function Keys???????

If you can tell me that, then my problem may be solved.

Which trainer have you installed,if it is Cheat Happens trainer then all you need to do is uninstall it to your desktop. Double click on the icon, it will then bring up a square box & it will show you which funtion keys to press, write them down (I did)
Now leave this window open to run the trainer. When in a new game press the F1 keys & so on for the relative cheat.
F1 Health
F2 RU Money
F3 Ammo
F4 Weight
F5 1 Hit Kill (my favourite)

But leave the Cheat Happens Trainer box running on your desktop for it to work.
