ok, as some of you may know me from ages ago i used to always play the sims 2 and i loved it. now ive got back into it but unfortunately i had to reinstall it and create a new family. i have one expansion pack and that is university.
now, everything always used to work fine. but now im getting a problem. when i play using the uniersity disk, i get a problem. im playing fine for about 5 minutes while im still building my house when the screen goes all blue. then, 5 seconds later it goes back to normal. 5 seconds after that it goes all blue again but it just locks up completely.
now ive got a couple of questions which i need help in answering please:
1: do you think theres something wrong with the CD?
2: ive only been playing when in build mode because i havent yet finished my house. i played live mode for a bit when my house was half built and it worked fine. do you suppose its something that happens when im in build mode?
3: do you think that if i buy an expansion pack and start using that CD to run the game that it will work fine?
4: is there something else that i can do to stop this from happening?
have you downloaded the latest patch from thesims2.com,they have them all now, also info on updating drivers nvidia etc.i was an idiot and didnt back up my favorite sims and custom content saved lots, damb= lost everything.its under the help section.but even when i bought uni=i still had to use the glamour life cd.blue screen used to happen on my old comp,i had nvidia mx/mx4,its ok now used to drive me crazy it was the fan on the graphics card =was full(clogged)with dust, i got it out of there & it was fine still is=no kidding, weird but true. gamespot has done a fantastic research into all op systems all vid cards + graphic cards ,settings the lot,(they put all sorts of systems together) its a few pages but well worth a look, they interviewed the sims2 game developers also, sorry you will have to search for it there as i didnt save the direct link.
