No matter how far I get in the game (but still in the Louvre) and I save it, when I return to the save game the next time it loads up to me standing in front of the mona lisa apparently not having solved the riddle there! It's driving me mad! Has anyone had this trouble too and how do I get around this. I didn't want to just give up on the game but looks like I might have to....

You should save the game after you had a controll point (something like that, I play the game in Dutch, so I don't know what it's called in English). Next time, you will start from this controll point.
