Matters what your rig setup is. If you have a 64bit Processor I would go with either XPx64 Pro or Vistax64 Ult. If you don't have a 64bit Processor then I suggest going with XP Pro/Media Vista takes up ALOT of system resources. (Note Problem with Vista [either 64bit or 32bit] and XPx64 some programs that do not say they were made to support 64bit or Vista may not work) Honestly though it really matters what OS you prefer and if you have the rig to support it. I am running it on XP Pro (I do have another OS that is 64bit I do use for some games like Supreme Commander but haven't converted all of them over yet.) my friend I think is wanting to install it on his 64bit setup.

Anyway GL hope it all works out I hat formating... its a necessary evil.

    Brox out~

After experiencing many OS, i can say that the most reliable OS for gaming is Win2k3 Standard Ed or XP Pro. XP Pro is easy to use but has lots of unnecessary applications running background. I suggest that you stop those services for better performance. And the default theme and effects of XP takes away lots of your both RAMs and graphics card processing power. I will post a FAQ for which services to stop and how to stop them if i have time.

On the other hand, Win2k3 comes with a win98 based theme and less unnecessary services (but still a lot unnecessary for a gaming computer). I currently use 2k3 for business purposes, i must admit that it's perfect for gaming if u know to deal with it. Especially if u use trainers, u will be shocked that how fast u can minimize and maximize the game!
