Yeah, but the cheat that works on Dread Lords don't work on Dark Avatar. If I'm doing something wrong, or someone has the real cheat to it please let me know.

You are doing something wrong. Here's the steps.
1. Make a shortcut linking to the GAME exe, not the launcher. The path should be:
Then start the game and when you are in the main display, use the commands.
*Edited to accommodate multiple windows versions.

I know that this response is a long time coming, but i cannot figure out how to use this cheat either. I have windows vista 64, but it enables me to set the compatibility to xp service pack 2. Anyways, when i right click on properties, and then go to the shortcut option, there are two parameters. One is this "C:\Program files (x86)\stardock\TotalGaming\GalCiv2\DarkAvatar\DALaunch.exe" The other one doesnt have an exe at the end so when i type cheat it says that it is not valid. Maybe i dont know how to create the proper shortcut to enable this. Is there any way you can help me out?

i dont know if this will get a look see, as it is old. but, how do you add the " cheat" line, when it refuses to accept quotation marks in the name change ??? i have tried doing it on the shortcut on the desktop. and in the game.exe file, not the launcher.. i actually DID this, when the game cheats first came out, but danged if i can remember how i did it.. i keep getting the " < > " / " not allowed , in the name change.. start the game with the name change message box open, doesnt do any good.. gc2.exe.cheat"exe is what i keep ending up with, which, doesnt do anygood.... lil help for a mind numb cheat monger...

Okay, find your game executable. My above post lists the default location for Dark Avatar, though the others will be nearby (base game will be one level up, Twilight will have it's folder in the same location. Remember, you want the game, not the launcher, if it says launch, it's not the right one. Right click the exe file and select Create...> Shortcut.
Now, right click the shortcut you made and select properties. In the shortcut tab, there is a list of editable text boxes. You want the one labeled "Target" Now that box is filled with a path inside quote marks. It should be highlighted when you open the properties box. DO NOT EDIT ANY OF THAT! make sure your cursor is as far right as you can go so that it's to the right of the quotation mark. Press space once, then type cheat. Select Apply at the bottom, then close. Test the shortcut, then you should be able to move it anywhere you want.

That was absolutely perfect, i was trying to adapt the cheat ON the desktop, and could just not wrap my 3 still working brain cells around how to get it to accept the cheat and the quotes. thanks so much ! ! ! ... cant wait for the expansion !

There are no quotes around target path and when I put them in they are removed when I apply the change. BTW I am running windows 7 pro.
