Ever since I first played Max Payne back in December of 2001 I have been an avid, loyal fan of his unique story and character, I guess you could say I'm one of the original Payne fans...cause ever since then nothing to me (except the sequel itself) has topped Max's tragic Noir York story. It's rare in the video game world where you have such incredibly addictive action with an unbelievable story with so many twists and turns...the story in both games are bar none to me the best written games ever, most gamers don't understand a well-written masterpiece like the Max Payne series. For me to be sucked into a truly great game it's gotta have a story and the Max Payne series delivers on every level, and I know what your thinking but I don't care what the game is, it's gotta have a good story or it won't work, to me it's the backbone of a game...Max Payne and Max Payne 2: The Fall of Max Payne has that and more.
Ever since I was flung into the Max Payne universe 6 years ago at 15 I've grown to appreciate and respect the courageous character known as Max Payne, you could even say on some level Max is my hero. His back against the wall with nothing to lose he defied everyone and everything around him and found his family's killer...I could go on forever but I'd be here all day...in anycase Max is a guy I think anyone put in that kind of situation can relate to.
Both games were excellent in their own right, while I think the first had more action the second was a bit more emotionally driven, I don't play favorites with either game though I like them both equally the same. Sam Lake (writer of Max Payne) wrote the story from the ground up along with the sequel, in fact Sam was the character actor in the first who did all the graphic novel scenes...
Anyways, I just wanted to give Max his due on a site where little to no attention is paid to such an impactful character in the video game world. Finally I just wanted to say my thanks to Sam Lake and everybody at Remedy, Rockstar, and 3D Realms for making the masterpiece known as Max Payne and of course the sequel Max Payne 2: The Fall of Max Payne...without any doubt I'll be waiting for the third with much anticipation, thanks for listening, Jackal...
Here's a beautiful tribute to Max...
LinkWatch and be amazed at the tribute...you won't regret it. (Also, remember to enlarge vid, makes it more enjoyable is all)
