Dude, lots of people beat the game already, in fact, Ive already beat it on Insane. Now I only play for the multiplayer.
As for keeping Dom out of the dark, at what part, Im sure there isnt a part where they would just let him run into the dark without giving a way to light up the way. Look around for propane tanks, and other useful light sources.

Shoot him with the torque bow and sniper and when he gets close tag him with a frag grenade and run away(but not into the dark or the kyrll will eat you.)
