Since I was unable to figure out what to do in this scene, I read a walkthrough, and it says that you should pick up a book from the shelves on third floor under the white section. I have tried to figure it out like a hundred times now, still with no luck: HOW IN EARTHS NAME DO YOU PICK THAT BOOK UP??? What button do you have to press??????? please help me someone!!!!!!!

you go under the stairs and put his book there find the author of the book i think its de grotolla or something like that then go upstairs to the second floor and check author and his id number then go to the chinamens desk and use the number to find where the book is any book from that place will do

Note, you also have to put the book down that the Chinese dude gave you for it to work. This was something that was annoying me until I figured it out. Once you've put the book down you can pick another book off a shelf.
