    i keep getting a message saying that ot failded to start cos it cant find the d3dx9_30.dll file i did what the install instructions said to do

    have you tried reinstalling oblivion? and install directx updates? you could do a dxdiag (direct x diagnose) and run the directs 3d tests if those fail you have to update drivers for your graphic card.
    Since there are people who give me crap for my grammar and is to lazy to check my profile I will say it here as well. I am dyslexic so give me a break as I *TRY* to spell correctly.

    my graphics card was having combatively problems with directX 9
