Ahhhhhh...ok I am going to start from square one. I went to your GothicIII_cheatfaq_1.1 and read to create the Gothic III\Data\_compiledImage\_Intern folders and was successful. I can now see the activation of Marvin Mode when I type in Marvin while playing and can use the F key cheats like F8 for full health. However, I am still unable to bring up the console using the tilde key (I am using an English Keyboard not German btw) . I have tried and tried. I have even tried to press the buttons that were in the same spot as the German Keyboard buttons for the tilde to bring up the console.Reason being is because of what you said above:

The underscore for Our English Keyboard sets it located 2 keys to the left of the [BackSpace] key, ya know (Shift -) gives you an underscore. Welll.. So to properly type in a give command it would be (example):

I figured that maybe I had to press the button below the backspace which is where the tilde is on the German Keyboard and every other button near it but I still can't get the console to come up



I just don't get it. I had no problems using the Marvin Mode on Gothic I and II...the console came up just fine. I just can't seem to get the console to pop up on Gothic III. PLEASE somebody help me before I lose my sanity

I hope someone gives you a solution because I am having the exact same problem. I changed Testmode=false to Testmode=true, but when I press the ~ button during play, no console appears.
I am also using an English keyboard.

Sadly, I don't think anybody knows the reason for the console not showing when doing the appropriate steps and then pressing tilde. I think this is why we are not getting any responses. Maybe they done away with the console on the latest patch, which is what was shipped to North America. I don't know...I have tried all the possible websites trying to find something about it but not one clue...Everybody just says the same thing... set TestMode=false to TestMode=true and boom you press tilde in-game and there is your console...WRONG! it doesn't work for us...oh well

no the console does work ive got it up and i can see it but when i go to input a code like give gold or give item or anything i get this line that says Added (blah)(00000000) to players inventory dont know whats up with that and i get nothing in my inventory.

Yup, I'm starting to think the US version doesn't have a console, because I can't find a solution anywhere. I don't get a garbled console...I get NO console, at all. Even after following the instructions for editing the file (true instead of false) and adding the files to the Data folder etc. I can get Marvin mode to work, but that's only for the function buttons and it's not very useful. It's a bummer because I love to play the game the second time around in god mode, just for fun.

I have the US version of the game and by following the info in the cheat faq have been able to get the console to work. The cheats are CASE sensitive, for example to get more gold i type: give It_Gold 50000 and get 50k of gold. a couple of things worth noting is that on the US keyboard ingame when you are typing, z is y and y is z also to get the underscore It_ Gold you have to hold SHIFT ?/ key. another thing that works for me is the learning points cheat i get that by typing: teach LP 500 again these cheats are case sensitve. also you must create the folder the cheat faq says to make in the gothic program in order to have any chance of making the console work

I did that. And I changed the Testmode to true. No console appears when I press the ~ (or any other button). It's not that it's garbled...it's just not there, at all. There is no place to type the cheats. Nada. Nothing. Zip. Very frustrating.

Exactly...that is the whole purpose for this post. Someone obviously didn't read my first post. We need solutions not everybody saying that theirs is working. Please if you can't tell us how to fix the problem by reading my discriptive posts then don't say anything at all. No offense, just don't like all these e-mails I am getting saying that this was updated just to find out it was someone bragging how theirs is working....Solutions people...if there are any other possible fixes out there please let me know and all the others that need the help know. Thank you!
