Perhaps if you copy the gun fire data from another form of fire, that works. You have to go into the right file though. I can't tell you right now because I'm writing this message!
it actually works and if any of you think it's a little unbalanced that the Tau then have a gun turret, then simply make the rate of fire for the other gun turrets from other races but that also makes the game less fun for other races so there couldn't be a rationalised answer for it.

Ive given up now on turrets cudn't be botherd with it instead i reduced me broadside battle suits to 1 in a squad ( y the f*#! do i want 3 of em there 2 big!!) so i got 1 at 3860 i fink an the reload time is 0 so they pretty much destroy enyfink in the area that they occupy lol i normally leave a few hammerheads floatin round here an there aswell
