Medieval 2: Total War Message Board  

Most people know how to do this, but there are some that don't so im here to tell you that You do not need the messed up trainer made by Pizzadox or the max 40000 florins cheat to become rich. There is a third way wich can benifit you in many ways later on... all you need to do is following.

1 - Go to your M2TW folder and then open data - world - maps - campaign - impirial campaign.

2 - In that folder there will be a few text files and some images. What you do is Right Click on the "descr_strat" textfile and select copy. Now paste it somewhere safe so that you have a backup if something goes wrong.

Reminder - If you have applied the "Unlock all factions mod" then you might have already done this and you might be able to skip step 3...

3 - Then go back to the real textfile and Right Click again. This time select the bottom option. Properties. In that window there will be 2 check boxes at the bottom. One will be checked so You have to uncheck it. After that just click OK.

4 - Now you are ready to edit the text file. Open it and scroll down to find the nation you are going to play with. When you find the nation you will see a bit of starting information. This can be edited if you know what you are doing. But this tutorial only teaches how to get cash.

4a - You will find something like this...

denari 10000 (starting cash)
denari_kings_purse 2500 (bonus cash per turn)

Now what i suggest is to edit eather of them, or both. After you have done what you think is reasonable. Save and overwrite the old file. Close and go start the game.

Reminder - If you wish to start playing with another faction remember to change back anything you edit befor. You can do this by overwriting the textfile with your backup.

Keep playing around with the text file and you will get the hang of how things work in the game. Who knows maybe you will become a modder one day

OR you could grab a memory editor and just change it there. Rather simple and you dont have to worry bout screwing up your game (Not that that's really easy to do).

I'm waiting for the .pack extractor so I can start modding.

Like in RTW I think so but in MTW2 is slightly different ?

And how about create_unit cheats ???
When I type and enter the create unit cheat code, the unit will be appeared by the name which unit I want but the picture is displayed the peasant unit ???

I've used that money cheat since I first got Rome. I always give myself 1000000000 since I'm greedy. Never worry about money ever again!
