I found the Eldar one hard. Fighting through their main base (I decided it would be too easy to do the other win condition) was ludicrous. Tons of turrets, fire prisms, and a huge amount of infantry.
Other than that... the Tau one was annoying. I was playing Necron, so it wasn't fun to keep bringing along builders to detect stealthsuits, and teleporting my lord up onto the ledges.
Destroying brains for... not so long

The Eldar Stronghold can be difficult depending on which faction you are playing as. I had a diffcultt time playing as the Space Marines on that map. Conversely, as the Imperial Guard I was able to crush the Eldar with ease. Took an IG armored column right up the middle of their base. LeMans Russ tanks smashed the turrets to bits and Hellounds chewed up Eldar by the dozen. Add in some artillery support, Guardsmen and the Command Squad- the Eldar were utterly crushed.
The greatest hindrance on the Eldar Stronghold map is the limited resources. Having to fight through the Chaos base to get to them is another pain. Personally, I found the Tau Stronghold far more difficult due to those damn Stealth Suits/not enough detector units. The main Tau base on that map is a slaughter house. Those Elite Firewarriors are fearsome.
The Ork Stronghold is not too difficult because they will kill each other in droves. Ha!

well i would say that in the beginining, the necrons. I was playing with the imperial guards and the necrons attacked at the beginning of the game. I was freaking out trying to build my guards and kill them all. Really intense for me. However, after that the rest of the game seemed like child's play.

When attacking an enemy stronghold it is very helpfull to have forward base. Playing Tau (the first race I decided to play in DC) I tried to attack the Necron Stronghold without it and was wiped out in minutes. Also as Tau (playing on standard difficulty) I wiped out the ork base on the second turn and chaos on the fifth (if I remember correctly). I love doing battle on the Eldar stronghold because of the frantic attacs and sudden teleports of Eldar squads in my base and the incredible defense in the Eldar mainbase itself. I also liked the fact that the Orcs (still talking about the Eldar stronghold) put up a decent fight. The Chaos base is easy to defeat though. Chaos used his armor only in static defensive positions. Playing as other races I liked the attack on the Tau stronghold very much. I liked having to deal with Tau snipers all over the place and the massed attacks of Kroot/Kroothound/Krootox auxilliaries. Challenger52, as Necron you should use your Necronlord and wraith units as stealth detectors. Wraith are cheap, fast and can demolish enemy buildings very quickly. The Chaos stronghold cand be hard and fun too. If you survive the first attack waves you'r fine. And you need a bit of luck too. In one of my battles the greater chaos daemon came walking into my base very early in the game.

I think play as IG is difficult too
Even until now, I can't devise a good tactic or plan that can overcome the mighty hordes of Ork (difficulty Hard)
Its become more painful and stressfull to know that the ultimate tank of IG can be destroyed by little number of Ork units especially with the Big Mek ??? And the huge size of Baneblade & its factory making its pretty sneaky to create a proper building emplacement and its huge size make its a bigger and easy target too If IG play with numbers it should have more pop caps to compensate with limited comissar ???
Hm... sory but I must admit that I am pretty useless with IG
