I just submitted my GothicIII_cheatfaq_1.1 formerly known as "cheatlisting." Hopefully it will get posted quickly so you guys can grab it. Read it in notepad or word- its just a txt file (MAXIMIZE it though).
There is SOOOO much more in there now:

-How to fix the console graphical corruption (the game does not properly unpack the console files and I tell you which folders to create so it will unpack them manually and FIX your console!)
-Full "edit" and debug fuction tutorial
-how to manipulate the debug and console windows
-how best to use the console windows without getting "stuck"
-how to pause the game
-fly mode (no gravity mode), super jump mode, super run mode/strafe mode,etc.. FUN CHEATS FOLKS!
-fixed the INSERT translation error to "give"
-explanation of how to type commands in properly as the console uses the German keyboard set
-explanation of how to quickly give/teach yourself everything via the copy/paste trick - (ie. setup a text file on your desktop and pull the items perks from my faq and quickly alt-tab and ctrl+c to Ctrl+v into the console)
-added the give as many Learning points command
-added the give as much gold as you want command

Btw, Mr.Helper (aka Commander) Can give you gold, skins, all kinds of crap- fix reputations, etc. Just make sure the console is fixed first.

The "give" command DOES work for practically every item listed
you just have to either type it in correctly or copy paste it in. The problem is that alt-tab is a debug COMMAND as well so you have to clear the console line FIRST. With a corrupted console its hard to tell whats going on though.

As far as typing things in correctly the problem comes from the German Keyboard used in the console set:
The underscore for Our English Keyboard sets it located 2 keys to the left of the [BackSpace] key, ya know (Shift -) gives you an underscore. Welll.. Since the console uses the German Keyboard set the underscore key is located to the left of the RIGHT shift key. Its the ?/ key. So its SHIFT+/ for an underscore. So to properly type in a give command it would be (example):

give It[SHIFT + /]Bow[SHIFT + /]Rune

which would result in the proper reading of the console command:

give It_Bow_Rune

I think thats the best bow in the game, btw, its a KILLER one.
Those with graphical corruption would not notice though that when they type (SHIFT + -) it actually looks like this in the console:

It?Bow?Rune

You see the two keys just reversed due to the German Keyboard set and they would NOT recieve that item. With a corrupt console I think it screws up some of the commands as well.. BUT included in the faq is an EASY way that will fix the graphical corruption for MOST people- it worked very well for me

I look forward to fixing my console! To think I've been playing it straight this whole time... I'm still not going to cheat unless I HAVE to though.

Hrmm. I haven't played Gothic since NWN2 came out. I've been waiting for a official patch to fix those god-awful, epilepsy-inducing graphics problems. I'm keen though to see what you've come up with to solve this. I wonder how long cheathappens will take to process the submission though....

I am not sure. For instance I submitted the faq the day I posted this thread YET, YET, it has still not been posted up in the cheats section for this game. It IS NOT the same thing I submitted the first time. I figured "well, its just taking a while." However I submitted the FULL listing of cheatcodes to Space Empires V the other day:

Not only did I put in the faq but put in 3 other files, including an nfo that CLEARLY stated that all sites hosting this cheatfaq had to include all 4 files: The other 3 files were SHAMELESS plugs thanking the folks at Cheathappens.com for input I recieved as well as making it CLEAR that other sites could NOT take out the Cheathappens.com references if they wanted the faq :P Basically I made it a "Made for the folks t cheathappens.com because they kick @ss and helped me formulate some ideas and motivations." I included the give LP, hey man, was that you Darth? Damn, I forgot to credit you with that one, (if it was you (was it) but I did credit the cheathappen.com forum. You'll have to forgive that small slight :/ ANYWAY, get it here as for some reason they are dragging their feet at the submission progress, even though I was told to SUBMIT the file
but fixing ones console is too important.

Has TWO functions:

Now this is an APPLICATION written by a guy at JoWoods tech forums that can start the game and does automatic backups of your QUICKSAVES in realtime as you play and backs it up to tw different folders in case of corruption and can restore in case of corruption.

The OTHER function is a SUPER tweaker menu that automagically tweaks your Gothic III ini files and contains practically every tweak submitted by the users over at Jowoods tech forum -y ou just pick and coose which ones you want. It ALSO has the tweak that REMOVES LENS FLARES It lets you pick and coose a TON of different tweaks, save them then exits out. It also has a function to back up your inis beforehand. Oh, I assume it probably overwrites you ini for everytime you tweak and save? So maybe you have to manually reset the Testmode/cheatmode/ debug mode to TRUE after each tweak? It DOES disable the lens flare also And tons of other things but its just something you have to explore first, then make sure your ini is how you like it afterwards, then run the game with the Savegame backup assistant so at least your QUICKSAVES (only works for quicksaves) won't become corrupted. I would suggest a very CONSERVATIVE approach to tweaking though :P Just what you need (no lens flare, and cache settings) but its all up to you. Do a search for the utility over at JowWood (if you can find it anymore).

Anyway get them NOW!

By the way I would like some feedback on whether the console fix works for you AND I can give other methods and like to the thread at JoWood with other suggestions on how to MANUaLLY unpack the console - you maY have to start a new game, though for my fix to work. Just read the faq and watch those folders I told you to make in the faq and you should see the console files unpacked there automatically.

I would ALSO like some FEEDBACK on my "edit" tutorial and the "FAQ" part of the faq. The faq fixes several translation problems (ie. INSERTS is not a valid command) and gives you some food for thought in Gothic hacking. Maybe once you guys get into the editor you can find even MORE things to do with quest manipulation, editing other parameters which help you cheat or can overcome possible glitches, (some things you can edit, other things you can't), etc..

IF the console fix listed does not work, (like I said you may need a FRESH uninstall/reinstall, then create the folder during the first run, but just try the method first) well there are a few other ways, like manually unpacking it with the unpacker tols. I will have to REALLY hunt down the thread over at JoWood and post a link here. I am sure EVERYONE can then fix their console then in one of the other two ways and we can really start some hacking.

Now, guess what? I AM ALSO NOW playing NWN 2 right now also :P

You have to cut me a little slack dude. I have tons of things to do at the site and other jobs/responsibilities including family. I'm not at the PC 24x7. Some things get posted at a higher priority than others.

I don't recall providing much in the way of info that you could have used, so I doubt you needed to credit me with anything. The only thing of note that I recall posting was a tip on how to duplicate items using the trainer, but that's not exactly rocket science, and you didn't mention it in your FAQ anyway.

The console fix worked perfectly for me. Thanks for the info. I'll look into the sun flare/black-white flashing fix you mentioned in the other thread.

Ah, I thought you did the give lerning points command. Also which the Gothic Assistant link I posted in the same post as it has a tweak that JUST removes sun flares Check it out. And oh yea, I would take that advice in the faq about NOT using the razor trainer AT ALL. Period. As each option shares keys with cheat/debug function keys and could possibly corrupt your savegame and/or files or intruduce irritating bugs. Then again this game is so buggy, anyway, hehe.

Oh, and you gan give yourself multiple items with the "give" command. I think its:

give # item
OR
give item #

I believe its the same syntax as the gold cheat I put in the FAQ.
