I can't get past the cross-country section. when it gets to the high jump thats like 3 or 4 poles high i can't get over them and my horse is at level 5. Please help!!!!

Hey Im really sorry i dont know the answer to your question cos ive not even got to it yet. Ive only just bought that game and already im stuck. Ive got to the bit where you have to go and get the presant for ginger from the attic room. and it says there is someone in the library that can help you but its locked and i cant find the key do you know where it is.
PLEASE HELP ME!!!!
