Watch the trailer, what do you find odd about it.

I see a few things, I'm not going to say anything just yet though. And if you read the books and the FAQ at the site, you would know more what I am talking about.

Ok. So here everybody is complaining about a lack of discussion and no one wants to talk about this?

    I'll start it off...

...the first thing I found odd was that the Elites were just too big in size. In the game booklet it says they stand around eight feet high.

Another was the energy sword and yet another was the spartans themselves.

    So, what do you think?

The elites weren't too big, they were just a little out of shape, I found them to fat really, too massive. In the normal games the Elites aren't shaped like Hulk >_>

The energy sword was also out of shape. The Spartans looked good to me though.

The first working armor was the Mark V I believe, as seen in Halo 1.

Halo Wars is supposed to take place before Halo 1, around the first encounters between Covenant and Human.

(The first humans who encountered a Covenant [a Jackal I think,] were three Spartans, John and his two friends Sam and...Kelly? aboard a Covenant ship.)

Anyways, the armor that we saw in the trailer wasn't Mark V or VI...so, I don't know.

And I agree with you about the first two things.

well, the story takes place b4 halo 1,so therefor, those models are older. if you noticed, in halo 1 it was an older model than in halo 2, so they are constantly updating. the reason the spartans look different, its because i takes place in older tymes. what you seen were spartan IIs, heres a link, it tells you everything. just scroll down and you will find what you r lookin 4. The armour they are wearing is the Mjolnir Mark iv. if you have read the books this the first set of power armour the Spartan IIs receive. it did not have a shield generator (even though in halo wars they do but that was probably for balancing) and it did not have the processing layer to support an AI. You can check all of this information at halo.wikia.com/wiki/MJOLNIR_Powered_Assault_Armor

I'm pretty sure the first humans that actually lived to encounter the Covenant were Sergeant Johnson and his old friend Sergeant Byrne in the book Contact Harvest on board a fruit freighter set as a trap. But the first species in the Covenant that was encountered was a Jackal.
