Right click on the desktop shortcut of the game, in the "Target" field, after the text leave one space and then enter -console. Many people don't mention the space, so that's the usual reason consoles don't activate.

i did put the correct line in the target thing but my cheats won't work i don't know what it says but the cheats won't work

wacky... use the "(1)" line as this: god (1) ; map (1) and so on... you must include it in every cheat
