Zoo Tycoon 2: Endangered Species Message Board  

OK - here's what I've figured out looking at various cheats and playing the game.

Challenge mode - this one is easy and you might already know it - to get all the money you want for a great head start - at the beginning of the challenge when you are choosing the zoo layout (city, scrub,...)up your budget with the arrows that are provided on the right of the screen. I usually start with a couple million dollars, that way I never have to worry about money. You will also get a cool new gold entrance for having over a million dollars in your account.

Campaign mode - this took me longer to figure out, but it works and sure helps! When you choose your campaign you will be brought to nearly the same screen as before with your allotted budget on the right. Usually $20,000, $30,000 - not enough for a decent zoo (after the first 2 or 3 enclosures, you'll be selling everthing - trees, weeds, whatever to eek out a little bit of money). You dont think you can change the allotted budget as there are no arrows. WRONG!!!! Press down on the up arrow key on you keyboard and hold it down. You'll see the money go up to whatever you want. This is slower than in the challenge mode but well worth it. Again, strive for over a million dollars as you can't get more money once you're in the game.

Another thing thing that helps in the timed challenge modes (where you only have a year for instance to get so many asian animals.) Pause the game at the beginning until your landscaping and setting up are set up enough to get a good head start. You can always pause later to stop time again anyway. Time does not pass while in pause mode and you still can buy items and adopt animals. The only thing that won't work is research items but they will catch up once you are in regular mode. Besides, you now have have all the money you could ever want, so you are not depending on guest admissions, donations, etc.
